Staab of Cotuit passed away on December 10th at Cape Cod Hospital after a period of declining health. Joan Aselton Staab, beloved wife of Carl E. In lieu of flowers, Joans memory may be made to the research of Myelodysplastic syndrome () or the Cotuit Library, Cotuit MA. Burial will follow in Mosswood Cemetery, Cotuit, MA. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday December 13, at 10am in Our Lady of the Assumption Church 76 Wianno Ave, Osterville, MA 02655. Visitation will be held Tuesday December 12, 4pm -7pm in John-Lawrence Funeral Home, 3778 Falmouth Road, Route 28, Marstons Mills, MA.

The family would like to thank everyone that was a part of the end of Joans journey especially her doctor Dr. Those who were fortunate enough to have had Joan touch their lives were truly blessed. She also leaves behind loving brother and sister in laws Carl and Ora Aselton of Milbridge M.E., and Angela Muise of Shrewsbury M.A., along with many loving nieces and nephews and their families. Joan recently became a great grandmother to Peyton Lapointe of N.C. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren who knew her as Grammy or Gramsy her granddaughter Ashley Lapointe and her husband Corey of Charlotte N.C., granddaughter Kali Aselton of Dover N.H., and granddaughters Kelsey and Kathryn Tynan of West Barnstable. of Laconia N.H., her daughter and caregiver Kathleen Tynan and her husband Kevin Tynan of West Barnstable M.A. She leaves behind her husband Carl "Pete" Staab, son Timothy of Centerville M.A., son Thomas W. In addition to her mother and brothers, Joan is predeceased by her first husband Tom, and her oldest son Michael K. Pete immediately became family to all of Joans family as she did with his and was known as Grandpa Pete to his granddaughters.
They spent much of their time traveling to visit family, spending winters in Florida, dining at all of their favorite spots sitting in a "side by side", and holding hands. Pete gave Joan the life she so deserved and more. Their courtship was like no other, and in June of 2006 Joan married the love of her life. After years of being single in 2003 an old acquaintance and friend wrote to her asking her on a date.
Joan could light up a room with her smile that everyone knew so well. Anyone who knew Joan knew she was happiest when listening to Neil Diamond. After Toms passing in 1993, Joan lived her life enjoying her passions which included spending time with her granddaughters, family and friends, socializing, and staying active. She lived her life strong in her faith and in her parish Our Lady Of Assumption church. Joan was a cherished friend to many, and those whose lives she touched were blessed. Joan worked at the Cotuit Library for over 25 years where she made lifetime friendships. This included enjoying the Cotuit beaches, playing tennis at Kings Grant, and always hosting friends and family in their home. Cotuit was truly the home where they settled into the village life. In 1972, they moved into their newly built home on the corner of Coolidge and Main Street. In 1971, the dream piece of property in Cotuit they spotted on their honeymoon went up for sale. They returned to Massachusetts and resided in Leicester. who was a pilot in the Air Force which took them to Missouri, Oklahoma, and Maine. Later in life they moved to Worcester, MA where she graduated from St. Joan was the older sister to Jerald Muise (deceased) and beloved brother David Muise (deceased).
